More than 50 orphans between the ages of 3-16 are living in Camp David in Carrefour, located just South of Port-au-Prince, ground zero of the January earthquake. Touch Heaven Ministries visited the camp, presided over by Bishop Jean Ernest Chervil, during a 3-day pastors conference from May17-20 that turned out more than 400 pastors from throughout the country.

The orphans had been sleeping on the rocky bare ground, completely exposed to the rain and the dirt. It is now the rainy season and the children are finding it more and more difficult to attain food and supplies. Please help Touch Heven Ministries ditribute meals to feed these hungry children by making a donation on the website.

Check out the pictures of the buckeye fan club in Carrefour, Port au
Prince, Haiti. They are orphan refugees in Camp David. We were blessed to
construct a heavy, waterproof canvas covering over the open compound ( they
were sleeping open air on dirt, rocky ground), to provide some mats and
bags, to bring them in about 15 tons of food and water last week , and to
open a medical clinic. We brought in a doctor and medical supplies. We also
are serving their affiliate camp in Merage (about 10 miles away) on the top
of a mountain that houses about 500 refugees.

Some students from U of M joined our Touch Heaven team to work at the camp
(two went down with dehydration) and their was a good rivalry going on about
the pending UM vs OSU football game. They were trying to get the children to
cheer “C-A-N-E-S”, so we reacted, and thus the training and cheer: O-H-I-O.

The children loved it. The youngest children went first, and we picked out
four from the group that practiced. WE were so tired we did not even notice
the small boy with the No. 7 , wearing scarlet and grey, until we returned
to the States yesterday !! Check out the “Michigan scowl” – they were
grrring as they grit their teeth. Then the older young men asked to
participate. These guys are all orphan “graduates” of the camp who were
raised there until legal age, and then went out on there own. They returned
to this safe haven after the earthquake and now live there also and help the
camp out.

This is a meritorious show of the heart and good will between the two
schools, joined together in Port au Prince at ground zero (which is where
this is) to help orphans and the homeless. The football fans are hopeful to
come together again in Columbus at the game in the fall (there were five
CANE students on the team – four boys, one girl), and three Buckeyes
(including Pastor Frank). Please check the website at www.touchhaitinow.org
<http://www.touchhaitinow.org/> . More pictures are being posted.

We challenge the Ohio State U student body to get involved with us and to
make a difference. The Buckeye nation is the greatest football family on
earth, and we can make a difference if each of us just does a little. Would
it not be wonderful if we also established a scholarship fund for some of
these orphans to attend OSU ? They need all the hope they can be given to
live on. Every little donation goes directly to providing food, medical
care, and basic needs facilities for these desperate beloved people.
